Video Games - New 'Grand Theft Auto IV' Trailer

"Rockstar has released a new trailer for its imminent controversy fodder, Grand Theft Auto IV. The new trailer, Looking for the special someone, shows some more details of our European hero's search for his missing family member in Liberty City. It looks fantastic and pretty damn intriguing, possibly the most story driven GTA yet? Judging by this trailer, it certainly seems like the plot will be an epic one."

Looking good, can't wait to play this game. Enjoy the second GTA IV trailer above.

Video Games - New GTA IV Details

"More details about Rockstar's massively anticipated sequel, Grand Theft Auto IV, have surfaced in the Turkish Official Xbox Magazine. Some highlights:

  • A slight vibration can be felt with every footstep when Niko runs.
  • Niko doesn't get tired - he can run forever, it just wont be as fast as previously.
  • The HUD has been removed. No health or armor indicators. Everything is visual. For example, armor is actually a bulletproof vest that visually deteriorates.
  • The flame thrower and rocket launcher are still in the game.
  • Explosions are larger than ever, and there is a mission in the game based on creating a chain of car explosions.
  • Cars don't explode unless they should. Crashing won't blow up a car - but a rocket launcher will.
  • Time-sensitive events. Example - a mission goal is to catch the train at 7pm. If the player is late, then that particular mission is NEVER available again.
  • Gore is back and better - blood appears at wound sites, enemies limp if shot in the leg, hold arm if shot there. Apparently running someone over is "disturbing."
  • No eating, girlfriends, or keeping fit, but skills improve over time (driving, etc).
  • Secret vehicles and “plenty of goodies” at 100% completion. No more details given.
  • Land size is bigger than the 3 cities in GTA:SA.
  • Graphics are better than Saints Row - draw distance is to the horizon.
That's all for now. The new trailer will be on Rockstar's website on June 28th."

Can't wait for this next-gen GTA game, new details are leaking out very often and they all sound awesome. I'll be sure to post the new trailer when it hits the web on June 28th.

Video Games - More 'GTA 4' Details Revealed

"The info on Grand Theft Auto 4 keeps coming up "awesome." This info is from the U.K.'s Official Xbox Magazine by way of GTA4.net.

  • According to the magazine, GTA IV is currently 66% complete.
  • When Niko pulls out a pistol, a crosshair with a simple black cross within a circle shows up on the screen. This could be an indication of manual aiming being available in the game.
  • Niko will be able to climb and descend exterior fire escapes and some meetings will take place high in the office buildings of skyscrapers. It's said that from on top of them you'll be able to throw people off.
  • Hand to hand combat is also being reworked on for GTA IV, and will feel "much more natural" than before.
  • "Fun ridiculous" weapons is said to be in the game, because R* is not going too "naturalistic".
  • One of the radio stations includes an "Eastern European-sounding" dancing station.
  • Players will be able to change their camera views whilst in a car according to their needs. This however is said to still being experimented on, and that Rockstar want to give better control and "immediacy" to players.

  • When selecting your mobile phone, a zoomed-in version of the mobile screen pops up in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, where you can use its address book to pitch for "jobs" with gang contacts among other things.
  • One of the things that makes it easier for Rockstar setting GTA in a fictional New York is that they sometimes get a call from the developers at Rockstar North in Scotland, wanting to know more about a specific building or traffic flow in a certain area, for instance, and using their in-house researchers in NYC they can easily assist the guys back at R* North.
  • Dan Houser is quoted saying that the Liberty City in GTA IV is bigger than any single city they've done before, giving a more clear indication of the physical size of the game. He continues saying that the "detail" of the game is the big thing.
  • He also confirms Central Park to be in the game, though it's fictional name is still unknown to us.
  • Dan says that they're "certainly evolving the way the radio works". He says the same for police behaviour and their reaction to crimes. Nothing further is said about this...
  • For confirmation, boats will be making a return and the handling is "really nice".
  • Rockstar's humorous take on the number 69 makes an appearance yet again in GTA IV, the editors of the magazine saw a sign for a "69th Street Diner". Another building called "Twitchins", the GTA version of Brooklyn's Domino's Sugar Factory, is in the game. "

Video Games - More 'GTA 4' Details Emerge

Game Informer's Andrew Reiner is a very lucky man. He's one of the few, if not the only journalist to be able to sit down and play an early build of Grand Theft Auto 4.

Here are some pertinent details he dropped about the upcoming title:

  • There are no planes. But helicopters are "one means" of flying in the game.
  • Main character can climb telephone poles.
  • There are girlfriends.
  • "In terms of scale, it definitely feels more like a realistic city."
  • The expanded content that Rockstar is planning through Xbox Live may offer new areas to explore.maybe a fifth borough to Liberty City.
  • the game's length "should be comparable" to all the other GTA games

Anyway, read the whole thing yourself here:

Video Games - Rumor: Is Rockstar Fooling Us?

Someone claims they've gotten very exclusive details for Grand Theft Auto IV; details Rockstar doesn't want the public to know about yet. Is what GameInformer told us just a scapegoat for Rockstar's true plans for GTA IV?

***SPOILERS BELOW***

The main character is NOT Nikko Bellic, and there ARE aircraft in the game!

Nikko Bellic is being used as a Mcguffin device to keep the real Main Character out of the spotlight, The real main character is Roman Petronov, Nikkos cousin who invites him to live in Liberty after Nikko has a HUGE falling out with a paramilitary/Mafioso hybrid wing back in ESTONIA.

Back to 2007, Roman invites Nikko to the US with lies of his fancy living, just because he needed Nikkos help in dealing with shady characters trying to move into his little slice of heaven, which is a Taxi-Firm Roman works at on a co-operator term.

You WILL play the prologue missions as Nikko, to give you a hint of the new controllers, sadly, I dont know the schemes yet, but as soon as I do, you do.

Anyhow, about three quarters through the prologue, Nikko goes for his cousins associate " Mosha " to recover some drug money from one of the FOUR gangs in Liberty, a mainly South American gang modeled after the Columbian Cartels from GTA3, and the real life MS-13 gang, named " Carta ( Car Tuh ) Once ( Own-Said minus the D ) literally Card 11.

During this deal, Nikko gets murdered, and Roman ( Who was a great guy naturally, and never harmed a soul in his life ) becomes deeply depressed, because he feels responsible for Nikkos death, who was his only friend, and his guard dog in a brutal new world.

Armed with nothing but grief, and a deep hate for himself, Roman goes off the deep end, leaves his meager but honest job, and decides that in Liberty City, theres only one way out for a criminal AND a working man, and thats through the cemetery, so why die a shnook when you can die a rich man.

Thats it for the story.

Regarding the aicraft, there are THREE helicopters in the game, all respawn, One police cruiser, one for the Liberty Tree News paper which also became WILC, a news CHANNEL, and one thats owned by a person youl be working with for most of the game.

Bikes are OUT, but SIX motorcycle types are in.
C-11 will be a HUGE enemy in the game.
The Russian and Italian Mafias are at war and youl get to do missions for both.
Maibatsu has become a major player in Liberty City, and Monstrositys are the norm in upper-middle ****areas.

And finally, You WILL be mugged/Jacked/Jumped/Begged for money/held-up/car jacked AND possibly ignitiated into THREE different gangs, where you will be able to climb the ranks, through their own set of missions.
