Video Games - New 'Metal Gear Solid 4' Remix Trailer

"Konami has released a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4 and PlayFrance has the scoop. The trailer is similar to the E3 one released last year, but has a ton of additional content and has been remastered using the newest version of the MGS 4 engine, leading to a ton of little visual improvements. Animations, particle effects and over-all graphic fidelity have all definitely increased with this newest trailer - the scene where Old Snake puts the gun to his mouth, in particular, showcases some incredible lighting effects. It's great to see Konami hasn't been resting on their laurels, this new trailer shows a clear and marked improvement to a game that already looked amazing. The trailer ends with confirmation that the game will be coming out in 2007 - naysayers be damned.
The new trailer clocks in at over 13 minutes in length and what a blissful 13 minutes they are. The final scene with Raiden is incredible and worth the time investment by itself. What are you doing? Check it out NOW -- it demands your attention."

This brand new Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer shows off incredible graphical improvements. If you thought the older trailer looked sexy, wait until you see this one. With the plethora of exclusive PS3 games coming out this fall/winter, I put MGS4 aside and said, "I can wait until 2008, there's enough amazing games coming out this holiday season." But holy shit, this trailer just got me pumped beyond belief, and the fact that it says 2007 at the end is pretty fucking awesome. I'm embedding the GameTrailers version below, however you can watch it in QuickTime here, instead of the streaming flash version, though I don't think there's really a noticeable difference in quality. The version from PlayFrance above however may be slightly better quality, it certainly sounds the best and looks the best, in my opinion, if you watch it at PlayFrance. Anyway, enough rambling, enjoy the amazingness below:

Video - Hitler's Ultimate Downfall

This is the story of Hitlers Downfall, his final defeat against Microsoft has now pushed him over the edge. Please note this was made very quickly and was rushed so the sub's are not perfect. Version 2 of the video will be out in a week or two.
Very funny video if you're up to date with 'this-gen' gaming consoles, enjoy.

Movies - Amazing "American Gangster" Trailer

"The trailer for the Ridley Scott film "American Gangster" has been released. The story is based on a Harlem drug lord Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington), who smuggled heroin in the caskets of soldiers killed in Vietnam. He was eventually caught by New York detective Richie Roberts (Russell Crowe), who got Lucas to turn his talents toward catching the crooked cops and drug dealers who profited from his scheme.

The trailer is amazing from the beginning till the end. It shows Washington's character explaining the important things in life, like hard work and family, when in reality he is the meanest and most violent gangster walking the streets.

In addition to Washington and Crowe, the film also features lots of rappers, which I believe needs to stop. "American Gangster" hits theaters on November 2nd."

This movie looks pretty amazing. Ridley Scott is known for movies like Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, and etc. Enjoy the trailer below.

Movies - New "Shoot 'Em Up" Trailer

"Here an extended look at the upcoming action flick "Shoot 'Em Up." The story revolves around a man named Mr. Smith (Clive Owen), who delivers a woman's baby during a shootout, and is then called upon to protect the newborn from the army of gunmen.

The trailer has actually toned down the amount of violence that's in this movie. Instead, it tries to concentrate more on the story, which has something to do with the motives of Mr. Hertz (Paul Giamatti). We also don't get to see much of Monica Bellucci, who is named DQ in the movie, which stands for Dairy Queen. She plays a prostitute that caters to men with a lactation/mommy fetish.

Director Michael Davis had an idea of having non-stop shoot-outs, and to convince the studio that this film will work on the big screen, he put together a 17 minute reel of animated footage. Apparently, the studio liked it. "Shoot 'Em Up" hits theaters on September 7th."

I love the cast; Clive Owen is simply the fucking man. I don't know anything about the director, but with great actors, a cool plot, and a bad-ass trailer, I really hope this movie is good. Check out the new trailer below, it's very awesome.

Video Games - No Final Fantasy For Xbox 360

Via Joystiq's PS3 Fanboy:
"Square Enix is just laying down the smack this week. After confirming yersterday that FFVII isn't being made, they've come out and stated that they are not working on a single Final Fantasy game for the Xbox 360. In an interview with the Japanese Business website Nikkei BP, Square Enix executive Hashimito dropped the bomb. When the site asked if the Wii or The Xbox 360 are going to get any Final Fantasy games, Hashimito responded, "For the Wii, we have FF Crystal Chronicles in production," replied Hashimoto. "As for FF on the Xbox 360, it's currently a completely blank page."

Ouch -- well that pretty much debunks the ongoing 'Final Fantasy XIII OMGZ Xbox 360' rumors right there. While it seems unlikely that the Xbox 360 will never get another FF game, it appears that for the foreseeable future the PlayStation 3 will be getting all the big name Final Fantasy love. This is fantastic news for Sony and the PlayStation 3, since not only is there a 'slight' dearth of big name third-party exclusives, but also both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X both helped skyrocket the sales of the PlayStation systems that they were on. And it seems very likely that the same thing will happen with PlayStation 3 sales once FFXIII is released.

Mmm ... the idea that FFXIII is being built exclusively around the PS3 and Blu-ray is pretty exciting. That just makes the wait until next year that much harder though!"

Yea, this is pretty big news. There was a lot of rumors going around that FFXIII would be heading to the Xbox 360, just like a lot of other PS3 third-party titles, but Square-Enix just squashed that rumor. This is great news for PS3 owners because FFXIII and etc. will be built specifically for the PS3 hardware, taking use of the cell processor and not being toned-down to work on the Xbox 360. However, this is bad news for Xbox 360 owners who were hoping to be able to play this third-party game just like Devil May Cry 4 and etc.

Movies - Eli Roth Talks "Grindhouse" Sequel

Slashfilm spoke to "Hostel" director Eli Roth about a possible sequel to "Grindhouse," which would be a feature length film based on his "Thanksgiving" faux trailer.

"It would be something I'd do in between projects, but I'm actually writing it with my friend Jeff just to have it ready," explained Roth. "The first Grindhouse cost almost 70 million dollars. So I'm like, we should do it like Dogma 95 and call it Dogshit 2007, where you get half a million bucks and six days and no rehearsals. We'd have to list out crazy rules but we still want to do it. I've talked about doing it as a 45 minute movie with just so many missing reels."

"And I talked to Quentin and Robert. They said 'We gotta f*cking do that man, that will be great!'," added Roth.

Whether this will ever become reality is unclear, but a low budget "Grindhouse" sequel is sure to make its money back, even as a straight to DVD release.
This is a really great idea. It's sad the original Grindhouse movie did so poorly at the box office, and I can see studios being weary about funding another one for that much money, but any studio would greenlight a film like this for two million dollars or so; it's basically guaranteed to make its money back.

Music - Franz Ferdinand "All My Friends" Video

"Remember when all the blogs out there went nuts for the Franz Ferdinand cover of LCD Soundsystem's "All My Friends"? Well, the song was released this week as a b-side to the LCD Soundsytem single. Below is the video for the tune, which was made by Anna McCarthy. Who doesn't like floating heads and sleeping beauties? Enjoy!"

"All My Friends"

This new Franz Ferdinand video is a cover of the LCD Soundsystem song "All My Friends", as stated above, and it's a very good cover to boot.

Movies - "Onimusha" scores Kaneshiro as lead

"It’s been reported that Takeshi Kaneshiro has been tapped up to play the lead role in the Onimusha movie. What’s so good about this news is that Kaneshiro is the actor that Capcom have used for the likeness and voice of the main character in their video game of which the film is adapted from.

Perfect.

Add to that, this guy can really act too. He was the lead in The House of Flying Daggers and he appeared in the really cool movie Chungking Express in the mid 90’s.

Christophe Gans, that frustrating French director who keeps threatening to make a good film is helming, and shooting is set to take place early next year… although the film won’t be in our cinema’s until late 2009."

This is really good news. Ever since the very first Onimusha game, they have modeled the character after Takeshi Kaneshiro, who also voiced his character. This is going to make the movie feel very authentic, and on top of that Kaneshiro is a good actor.

Music - Alternate Queens Of The Stone Age "Sick, Sick, Sick" Video

Still no sign of Bulby! But this skeezed-out second-take on QOTSA's first Vulgaris single comes packing its own digital delights, including a thrashing, hypercolored take on the dancing iPod silhouettes and a lost little girl with a thing for flicking off the cam and baring her assets. Obviously not intended for MTV USA! We scanned the YouTube comments for elucidation, and we came up with "This one is the official German video." Doubtful, but for your enjoyment, here's "Krank, Krank, Krank."

"Sick, Sick, Sick" is the first single released by Queens of the Stone Age from their 2007 album Era Vulgaris. The song features Julian Casablancas of The Strokes on backing vocals and Casio synth guitar. If you missed the original video of this song, it can be seen here. As for the alternate videos, taken from the single's Wikipedia page:
Liam Lynch directed two official alternate videos for the song:
  • "The Bulby Video" featuring the bulb from the single and album cover
  • A third version, released on queensofthestoneage.de on May 30, was made by Lynch at his expense, i.e. without being commissioned, outside of the label, but once it was finished the label picked it up and made it the official video for Germany. The video which stars Lynch, Josh Homme, and Wendy Rae Fowler (in her fourth appearance in a Queens of the Stone Age video, among them Burn the Witch) was shot at Lynch's house in front of a green screen, without any crew. Later animation similar to the Go with the Flow video was added.
The new album hits stores in the US on June 12, 2007; I'm looking forward to it.

I usually try and stay away from posting 'funny commercials', and I also am not a fan of Bud, but there isn't a whole lot of interesting news today to post and this commercial happens to be absolutely fucking hilarious, so enjoy.
